This past weekend, the Free Nestora contingent of NYC Radical Women helped spread word of Nestora’s wrongful incarceration at the International Women’s Day march organized by the International Working Women’s Day Coalition. Emily Yamasaki, flanked by members of RW, the Freedom Socialist Party, the Free Nestora Committee, and other international activists, spoke of Nestora’s case at Herald Square on behalf of Radical Women.

This annual Seattle celebration is attended by thousands of people of all ages.

LA Times – “2 sides at odds over plight of activist-kidnapping suspect in Mexico”

In continuing with the recent (and very welcome) string of coverage on Nestora Salgado, the LA Times has released a story discussing the specific roadblocks – namely victims-rights advocate Isabel Miranda de Wallace – to Nestora’s release.  De Wallace claims that Nestora Salgado kidnapped and ransomed innocent “victims,” but we stand firmly with Nestora’s husband Jose Luis Avila, who claims, “there are no ‘victims'” in this case, only “people who had broken laws and were under arrest.”

In two broadcasts on Prison Radio, which is carried by over one hundred radio stations, Mumia explains the case of indigenous leader Nestora Salgado who is a political prisoner in Mexico. Mumia also reads excerpts from her October message to students protesting the disappearance of 43 of their classmates in Ayotzinapa in the state of Guerrero.

On November 16, New York City FSP leader Stephen Durham spoke at Union Square on behalf of the Campaign to Free Nestora Salgado. The event was a rally to protest Mexican political oppression and the disappearance of 43 students from the Escuela Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos in Guerrero, Mexico.

FSP’s open letter implores Secretary of State John Kerry to cut military aid to Mexico

On Wednesday, November 5, the Freedom Socialist Party’s International Secretary Guerry Hodderson released an open letter to Secretary of State John Kerry demanding that, while Nestora is imprisoned and the murderers of the 43 students from Ayotzinapa are still at large, the U.S. government must cease all military aid to Mexico. Supporters amass over 1,200 signatures for petition to free Nestora

Fred Hyde stands with the many pages of signatures provided in support of Nestora.

Members and supporters of the Libertad para Nestora/Freedom for Nestora – U.S. Committee gathered over 1200 signatures on a petition to Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto that states:

”We demand the immediate release of Nestora Salgado, Dr. José Luis Mireles, Marco Antonio Suástegui, Gonzalo Molina and Arturo Compos and all the political prisoners from indigenous community self defense forces in Guerrero and the autodefensas in Michoacán as well as other social activists imprisoned and denied their right to due  process under your administration.”
