Familiares de presos políticos de la Coordinadora Regional de las Autoridades Comunitarias dieron una conferencia de prensa en la Ciudad de México organizada por en el Centro Pro de Derechos Humanos. Tepepan Women’s Prison in the southern district of Mexico City. The U.S. Free Nestora delegation visited Nestora today (Tuesday, June 2) along with family members. Spirits were lifted and the determination to persevere was strengthened. We left with a renewed commitment to win Nestora’s freedom!

KPBS: “San Diegans On Hunger Strike Protest Mexico Imprisonment Of US Citizen”

KPBS has released their coverage of the protest at the San Diego Mexican Consulate on Monday. The entire article is worth reading, but the end is especially powerful.

Felix Garcia, a San Diego resident in his 60s who strummed on his guitar and song revolution-era songs outside of the consulate, hadn’t eaten in more than three days.

“I feel weak and hungry, but my conviction is stronger,” he said.

Garcia said he looks up to Salgado because of her defense of indigenous communities in Guerrero, one of Mexico’s poorest states.

“She represents resistance. Liberty. Freedom,” he said.

Delegates participated in the CNTE education workers rally and a meeting focused on political prisoners.

Agustina Emilia, wife of political prisoner Arturo Campos and others spoke at the permanent encampment on Avenida de la Reforma for the students of Ayotzinapa. The famlies of those imprisoned discussed Nestora and freedom for all the political prisoners in Mexico. We decide when and how to protest at the U.S. Embassy just blocks away.

On June 1, Comité Nestora Libre hosted a press conference in Mexico City with Free Nestora campaign-U.S. delegates and the families of Nestora and other political prisoners. We demand the Mexican government release all political prisoners!

Agustina Emilia, partner of political prisoner Arturo Campos speaks to the workers: “I am not a criminal. My husband is not a criminal. We are working people.” ” We must hold Pena Nieto responsible for what is happening to my husband, to Nestora and all the political prisoners.” “There will be justice and there will be punishments.” The movements are coming together to oppose state repression in Mexico. Those fighting to free political prisoners, the teachers, and the Ayotzinapa famlies are joining forces in this pre-election season– a new and promising development. In the U.S. we need to follow their example and unify the movements for justice.
