Tepepan Women’s Prison in the southern district of Mexico City. The U.S. Free Nestora delegation visited Nestora today (Tuesday, June 2) along with family members. Spirits were lifted and the determination to persevere was strengthened. We left with a renewed commitment to win Nestora’s freedom!
KPBS has released their coverage of the protest at the San Diego Mexican Consulate on Monday. The entire article is worth reading, but the end is especially powerful.
Felix Garcia, a San Diego resident in his 60s who strummed on his guitar and song revolution-era songs outside of the consulate, hadn’t eaten in more than three days.
“I feel weak and hungry, but my conviction is stronger,” he said.
Garcia said he looks up to Salgado because of her defense of indigenous communities in Guerrero, one of Mexico’s poorest states.
“She represents resistance. Liberty. Freedom,” he said.
On June 1, Comité Nestora Libre hosted a press conference in Mexico City with Free Nestora campaign-U.S. delegates and the families of Nestora and other political prisoners. We demand the Mexican government release all political prisoners!
